Snuggie x Table XI Mashup

During crunchtime at TXI, some of the guys stay here late or work over the weekends. Unfortunately, it gets cold… leave it up to Rich to solve the problem by buying 6 snuggies off of woot.

Should these be the new uniforms?

L337 Hakzor Pulls LEEROY

TXI Group Shot

Huh? Basically, our resident elite (L337) hacker/developer (Hakzor) decided to get hitched/charge in unprepared into combat (LEEROY). Actually, I’m kidding about the last part. John and Katie were absolutely meant for each other and since the day they met in World of Warcraft, they knew this day was coming. Last weekend, many of us from Table XI enjoyed a trip out to Toronto to celebrate their wedding. Everything turned out perfectly and we’re glad to welcome Katie to the TXI family. A few interesting interesting trip notes after the break…

Marlene Ho Sings the National Anthem and TXI is there

Last Thursday, TXI played hooky. Actually, the majority of TXI went to watch the Twins vs. the White Sox. While many of us are fans of baseball (and even more of us are fans of the beautiful weather we had), the main reason we all went was to support Marlene Ho (my wife) and her singing of the National Anthem. Marlene won the ESPN Zone Star Spangled Sing off and as a result, she got the chance to sing before the game in front of everyone. All in all, a great day of baseball (my hometown Twins won 20-1), beautiful weather, and a great job of singing!

Food Court Expedition

In the absence of Ellen, we’ve had to fend for ourselves and today, we ventured out to the Northwest Station (Ogilvy) Food Court this afternoon for lunch. It’s been awhile for some of us and even crazier, some TXIers have never been to the food court since joining Table XI. Yes, we’re absolutely spoiled w/great food at TXI, but truth be told, this is a gooood food court. There’s a Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Sbarro, Arbys, Jaffa Bagels, Soupbox, Panda Express, Cajun Grill, Corner Bakery (upstairs), Dunkin Donuts, Cinnabon, Jamba Juice, Ben and Jerrys and some more.

Polycom Napkin Hack

Those who have visited our office know that we’ve got a very interesting loft space. A drawback to that is that our conference room is especially ‘live’ due to the high ceilings and wood floors. Our pricey Polycom phone is clear for anyone in the conference room, but if you’re on the other side of the line, it’s unbearable. Our temporary solution was to put napkins over the mics to reduce how much noise they pick up. It definitely made an improvement, but there’s still too much echo-i-ness.

We’ve got a new phone we’re trying and are going to carpet the floor of the conference room as a first step. Otherwise we may need to put in some acoustic sound tiles and make the conference room into a part time recording studio. Updates forthcoming…

Archer Farms “Trail Mix”

We’ve recently become semi-obsessed with Archer Farms. It’s a house brand of Target that you may have seen in the last couple of years. Initially, Ellen bought a few of the more typical trail mixes and they were munched on when there was nothing else. Nice, but no real demand. However, recently there have been 2 mixes that we can’t seem to keep around. They are S’mores Trail Mix and Chocolate Monkey Trail Mix…. So good! But seriously, how are these trail mixes? Chocolate Monkey is dried bananas, dried pineapples, dried cherries (so far so good) and chocolate covered peanuts.  I guess that one sounds pretty healthy actually (I’m marketing to myself here). But S’mores? Really? S’mores is exactly what you think it is: marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers and…. Walnuts. That’s what makes it a trail mix?! Well, anyhow… in addition to the great meals here, we’re snacking better these days too. We’ve been eating lots of trail mix.
